What is PragerU?

PragerU is a non-accredited online media organization established in 2011. It produces short “educational” videos covering topics like climate change, history, and life skills, presenting conservative, and often Christian nationalist perspectives.

While they claim to provide “educational content,” PragerU has faced criticisms from historians, political scientists, and climate experts for bias and spreading misinformation. Despite these concerns, the platform has gained prominence within online conservative circles and uses social media to reach a wide audience.

PragerU’s YouTube channels have over 3.2 million subscribers and over 3,000 videos. They also have a kids’ version of the channel, PragerU Kids, with 96k subscribers and over 400 videos. The organization as a whole has reportedly received $200 million in donations between 2018-2022.

Who Founded PragerU?

Dennis Prager and Allen Estrin are the co-founders of PragerU. Dennis Prager, a conservative radio talk show host, has been a prominent figure in the conservative media landscape. He has played a key role in shaping the content and direction of PragerU, contributing to its messaging on various topics.

Allen Estrin, on the other hand, has been instrumental in the development and operations of PragerU. He has worked closely with Dennis Prager to establish the platform as a source for short, conservative-oriented educational videos.

They have posted videos such as: “Lockdown Devastation: Just as Predicted (And Finally Reported),” “Mask Hypocrisy: They Want to Control You,” and “Restaurant Mask,” that downplay the impacts of covid and complain about public safety measures.

What are Some Examples of Claims They Have Made on the PragerU Kids Channel?

Based on these actions, and many others that PragerU has taken, it is apparent that they are attempting to promote far-right ideology throughout our education system. While some states, such as Florida, Oklahoma, Montana, and New Hampshire, allow PragerU materials in their public schools, efforts within and outside of those states have been made to reject this organization’s materials and what they stand for.
